Hola lovelies, today I’m going to share with you 4 new ways to use tissue paper in your gift bags to make them stand out in a fun & unique way. My creative nature is always craving a fresh outlook in everyday common things, such as gift wrapping. Let’s face it, we don’t always have time to find the perfect gift wrapping paper, bows & the right kind of “invisible” tape for doing so or realize last minute we’ve run out of one of the previously mentioned. I’m the first to tell you to wrap instead of stuff, a gift bag that is, mainly because in my opinion, wrapping takes more time, a certain degree of delicacy & thoughtfulness that makes the gift all the more special and I’m all for that because I feel like gift wrapping should be sort of a gift in itself. I know I know, why waste your energy on something that is going to be ripped in I don’t know how many pieces & thrown away right? I kind of get it, so for the sake of giving gift bags a chance I’m going to share with you 4 fresh ideas on how you can give your gift bag a little personality & pizazz with the same old tired tissue paper, to make it stand out from the rest.
You will need: Scissors + Tissue paper + Gift bag of choice
BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS:
- Be a gift bag chipmunk. Every time I take a trip to my local dollar stores or craft stores and I find pretty gift bags for $1, I buy them and store them for future events
- Literally ANYTHING can be used as a gift bag “tissue paper”. Try left over tulle, craft flowers or greenery.
Make a paper fan out of a couple pieces of tissue paper in your color of choice, fan out and secure inside your gift bag. I like to have themes for my gifts. For this specific one I was going for a tropical glam type of theme.
For this bag I used a tissue paper pom pom to give the illusion of a uniform pattern with the tissue paper. I added a couple of darker shades for a fun pop of color
Just in case you still don’t know how to make a paper pom pom, here you go:
Start with at least 6 (the more you use the puffier and full your pom will be) sheets of tissue paper & begin folding in an accordion pattern as to make a fan
Grab a piece of string or even a stapler & secure the center of the accordion folded tissue paper
Begin “peeling” the layers of tissue paper & shape accordingly
I personally LOVE tissue paper tassels! I think they are super playful & fun. Why not use them as the gift bag filler?
Again, if you’re late to the tissue paper tassel garland DIY, here’s a super quick crash course: Begin by folding 1 sheet of tissue paper in half length wise twice and then fold down once & begin cutting strips leaving about 1-2 inches at the top
Unfold and begin rolling the tissue paper towards you
Your tissue paper should now look like the pic below & you’re ready to twist
Simply hold them by the tip, shake them to make sure the paper is “flowy” and stick them inside your gift bag upside down
Another thing you can do is to combine any of the above mentioned methods to go the extra mile on your gift bag game
I simply made 3 tissue paper flowers & placed them on top of the tissue paper garlands
If you love this give it a try & let me know what feed back you get. I’d also LOVE to see or hear your unique gift wrapping ideas.
