GOLD ABC FRIDGE MAGNETS DIY

I’m bringing ABC fridge magnets back baby!  This fun DIY/hack is easy, inexpensive and so fun to use for the entire family. Leave your loved ones cute little messages with these modern & chic gold ABC fridge magnets. I especially like to use them with my 4 year old to practice his ABC’s, sight words and numbers. I LOVE how chic and modern the gold looks against my grey/stainless steel appliances, gold just makes everything very lux don’t you think?

I LOVE using Krylon’s spray paint, especially in gold, it’s very lasting and fast drying and very versatile to use with many different materials.  I like to finish all my projects off with a clear protective coat of Krylon’s Crystal Clear Acrylic, which makes my projects last for a long long time. DIY DOLLAR STORE FALL WREATH

Another day, another DIY. Today I have a super easy and inexpensive fall wreath DIY tutorial using mainly dollar store items. Don’t let the seasons catch you by surprise and get started crafting your fall home decor early while the stores are stocked!

I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVE fall season. I love the cinnamon-pumpkin-apple scented EVERYTHING. Most of my favorite holidays take place during the fall season and I’m just ready, quite frankly, to take a break from this Houston heat. My neighborhood stores are starting to fill their isles with orange leafy garlands, hay stacks, pumpkin and everything related to Halloween and Thanksgiving and this makes me OH SO HAPPY. View Post

SMUDGING FEATHER WAND

Today I want to share how to make your very own smudging feather wand.

If you’re not familiar with cleansing rituals or smudging rituals then you probably have NO idea what I’m talking about. Let me give you a very basic crash course. Smudging is the burning or “smoking” of a smudge stick, a bundle stick made up of dried healing herbs, this ritual is done to Purify a space, place or person. This started out as a ritual in Native American culture and other indigenous cultures hundreds of years ago, and it is done so to Cleanse a space, person or place of negative energy. I’ve been smudging my home since I learned about it about 8 years ago and I LOVE the peace I feel after my home has been cleansed. Sometimes people’s bad vibes or negative energy rubs off on us and we bring it into our home, other times it lingers in your home after their visit. Sometimes just someone’s bad vibes towards you will be enough to make you and your home feel burdened and just negative. I will try follow up this post with a smudging ritual so you can see this amazing feather wand in action. For now, I leave you with this fun and quick tutorial on how to make a smudging feather wand.

The feather wand is used to spread the smoke into every inch of a room or space. The reason a feather or feather wand is preferred is because in many cultures birds are admired for their “closeness” to heaven

Items needed:

Feathers of your choice
String
Floral tape
Wooden dowels
Wooden beads (optional)

You’ll want to start by breaking off 2-3 inch pieces of the dowel to create “spacers” between your feathers to make it “fan out”, otherwise your feathers will basically overlap each other.

Grab a feather and a spacer and use the floral tape to connect them, then add another feather and another spacer. I used 2 spacers and 3 feathers for the base

You can simply stop here, or add more feathers to adorn your wand. Remember that you are creating your own feather wand, so make sure you give it some personality and have fun with it. My feathers were pretty skinny so I went ahead and added 2 more white feathers on the sides to give it a little extra width and some smaller colorful feathers on the front to give it some contrast. I also wrapped embroidery thread to support the “handle” and to add a little charm made of wooden beads.

Shortly after moving into our very dated 80’s bi-level house we started making a to-do list of all the renovations and makeovers the house needed in order to become our HOME. That said, we had to give this list of things a priority level, and the way we decided that was by listing the projects from cheapest and easiest to most expensive and most extensive. This way, we could knock all the little things out of the way and slowly and with fuller pockets get to the major renovations eventually. I decided to make the guest bathroom ( our boy’s shared bathroom) cabinet my first DIY project mainly because I had the exact paint colors  and supplies needed to achieve the look I envisioned, with the exception of the pulls which I purchased at HomeGoods for $10.
